The study for the location and histological classification of stomach cancer confirmed by endoscopy and biopsy


Abstract
The location and histological classification of stomach cancer was analyzed in 81 patients who were diagnosed as stomach cancer by endoscopy and biopsy at Keimyung University Hospital from September 1989 to February 1990.
The results were as follows
1. The sex ratio male to female was 2.4 : 1.
2. The peak incidence was 34.3% in 7th decade. Incidence in 6th decade, 5th decade were 24.6%, 19.5% respectively.
3. The locational incidence of stomach cancer were 48.1% in antrum, most frequent ; 21% in body, of which 73.5% were in lesser curvature and 22.5% in greater curvature ; 7. 4% in cardia.
4. On Borrmann¢¥s classification, Type III was the most frequent finding in 38.3%, and Type IV in 27.1%, and Type II in 19.8% were next frequency in order. 5. All patients (81 cases) were adenocarcinoma.
Poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma was most frequent in 40.7%. Moderate differentiated adenocarcinoma and well differentiated adenocarcinoma were in 28.4% and 8.6%, respectively.
